Professional Certificate Course | Duration: 8 Hours | 8 Modules | 8 Sessions
Course Introduction
Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) is a systematic and scientific approach to identifying, analysing and quantifying potential risks associated with hazardous industrial activities, processes, equipment and operations. It involves evaluating the likelihood and consequences of potential accidents, including fire, explosion, toxic gas release, equipment failure and other major industrial incidents.
This course provides comprehensive knowledge of QRA principles, risk modelling techniques, consequence analysis, frequency assessment, individual and societal risk evaluation, applicable legal requirements and internationally recognised industry practices. Participants will develop practical skills to understand, interpret and apply QRA methodologies for effective risk management, operational safety and regulatory compliance.
Course Objectives
The key objectives of this course are to:
- Understand the fundamental principles, concepts and applications of Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA).
- Identify major accident hazards and evaluate potential risk scenarios.
- Apply quantitative techniques for frequency and consequence analysis.
- Understand fire, explosion and toxic release modelling methodologies.
- Evaluate individual risk, societal risk and risk acceptability criteria.
- Understand applicable national laws, regulations and international standards.
- Develop risk-based safety recommendations and mitigation strategies.
